For instance, how many tribes are commited to stopping this, and how many are actually taking any action? And why is it kept so hush-hush to the public? I personally do not see articles about it on a half way regular basis. It sems to me that if there were more of a public outcry about it, even by a few, then perhaps others would take notice.

It seems that people tend to take a stand on an issue and maybe drop a letter to their senator or governor, but no more. People seem to get side tracked and sucked back into their personal lives and what is immediatly going on around them and forget all else, or they will get to it later. I do not find this to be setting a good example for our youth. Obviously they are already, and if not, soon will be living with the reality of what this mining has done.

While the internet is an awesome tool for getting information around, one is still left with the reality of "but will anyone actually do anything?" It seems easier to read about it, express your opinion, but do no more. There is always the other guy who will do something about it right?

This is a very disturbing subject, and one for a great deal of concern. You are right, greed blinds people, and when large amounts of money are involved people will lie and hide the truth. The question is, how does one make others aware, and how does one get those same people to get off their butts and take action. Talk is cheap. A few ideas spring to mind, and with a little more thought I am sure a few more will too.

Our elected officials, as worthless as they seem to be on matters of importance, need to feel the heat of this issue. Man is killing himself and his world and is too stupid and greedy to see it. Unfortunatly, until people are effect by something at an catastrophic level, they tend to brush it under the rug. You would think after 9-11 someone would have waken up, apparently not.

Do not get discouraged, this issue will be spread around and people will become aware (with a little help.) It would informative and perhaps beneficial to hear your ideas of plans of action to take, or what actions are being currently taken right now to stop the mining.
